One Day Joint Seminar SRIREP Project & Future Earth of the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature (RIHN) with The School of Environmental Science Universitas Indonesia (SIL UI)

Kyoto, 25 July 2023
The representatives of the SRIREP Project & Future Earth of the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature (RIHN) and the School of Environmental Science Universitas Indonesia (SIL UI) are conducting a one-day joint seminar at RIHN’s Lecturer Hall in Kyoto, Japan. Under the theme of “Environmental Challenges and Transdisciplinary Perspectives in Indonesia – Involvement of Communities, Improvement of Livelihood, and Environmental Protection”, this seminar aims to present social and environmental issues from various sectors, from small-scale artisanal mining practices, transformations of forest-agriculture frontiers, to community involvement and government policy.

Moderated by Prof Kenich Abe (RIHN) and Prof. Kosuke Mizuno (SIL UI), this seminar also discusses problem-solving by implementing transdisciplinary communities of practice (TDCOP) and the local wisdom and community approaches to tackle these socio-environmental issues. This seminar is closed with a representative speech from Dr. Hayati Sari Hasibuan, S.T., M.T (SIL UI) and closing remarks from Dr. Win Thiri Kyaw (SRIREP Project, RIHN).

RIHN is actively involved in various projects and joint-use activities sponsored by the Inter-University Research Institute, such as collaborative research, research resource-sharing promotion projects, regional research promotion projects, and public lectures and symposiums. We hope this seminar will catalyse future cooperation and partnership with SIL and other faculties in Universitas Indonesia.
