Jakarta – The School of Environmental Sciences at the University of Indonesia (SIL UI) signed a cooperation agreement with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) through the Center for Clean Research and Technology, Biological and Environmental Research Organization related to collaborative research and innovation in the environmental field.

Deputy Director of SIL UI, Dr. Dony Abdul Chalid said, this cooperation agreement shows collaboration to be able to jointly explore other activities, especially the demand for engagement from outside universities and demands related to independent learning to be strengthened. He also welcomed the cooperation with BRIN because they have in common that they are transforming.

“This is the first step from SIL and BRIN to be able to realize real work, and provide benefits to one another,” said Dony in his speech.

Sementara itu, Kepala Pusat Riset Dan Teknologi Bersih, Organisasi Riset Hayati dan Lingkungan, Dr. Sasa Sofyan Munawar mengatakan, kolaborasi kedua lembaga ini merupakan sebuah langkah nyata dan strategis. Sasa menyampaikan bahwa pola pendanaan BRIN harus dimanfaatkan oleh periset, dana riset bukan untuk periset BRIN saja akan tetapi periset untuk seluruh periset Indonesia.

“Sejak bulan Agustus BRIN harus mempunyai satu kolaborasi baik itu dengan perguruan tinggi, pemerintah daerah atau industri. Sekarang hampir semua kelompok riset mempunyai mitra kolaborasi,” kata Sasa.

Selanjutnya, Ketua Prodi Ilmu Lingkungan & Manager Riset,  Dr. Hayati Sari Hasibuan, S.T., M.T memaparkan mengenai Sekolah Ilmu Lingkungan kepada pihak BRIN. Ia juga menyampaikan beberapa klaster riset yang ada di Sekolah Ilmu Lingkungan.

Some of these research clusters include: 1) Biodiversity Research Cluster for Natural Resources Sustainability, 2) Research Cluster on Environmental Quality and Risk Management, 3) Research Cluster on Spatial Planning and Transit-Oriented Area Development, and 4) Research Cluster on Green Innovation, Sustainable Production – Consumption and Renewable Energy.

In addition, there is also the Mitigation and Preparedness for Disaster Risk Reduction Research Cluster, 6) Environmental Economics Research Cluster for Sustainable Development, 7) Interaction, Community Empowerment and Social Environment Research Cluster, and 8) Climate Change Research Cluster (In the process of Decree).

The signing took place at the SIL Building on the UI Salemba Campus on Friday, December 9, 2022. Sasa Sofyan Munawar, Head of PRLTB representing BRIN institution and Dony Abdul Chalid representing SIL UI signed the cooperation agreement.
