The School of Environmental Sciences on Thursday, February 11, 2021 received the Mayor of Tidore Islands, North Maluku Province and his staff at the University of Indonesia Campus, Salemba, Central Jakarta.
This meeting was an activity to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Mayor of Tidore Islands, North Maluku Province and the Special Work Unit of the SIL Human Resources and Environment Research Center.
Human Resources and Environment Research Center (PPSML), School of Environmental Sciences, University of Indonesia, which was established based on the Rector Decree No. 037/SK/R/UI/1979. In 2016, PPSML was transformed into a Special Work Unit for Service and Community Service under the School of Environmental Sciences.
The Mayor of Tidore Islands, Mr. Capt. H. Ali Ibrahim, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with PPSML SIL UI with the hope that this collaboration can develop Tidore Islands in terms of Mangrove Area Research, Marine and Fisheries; and the provision of Masters and Doctoral Program scholarships at the University of Indonesia School of Environmental Sciences for Distance Learning (PJJ) classes aimed at the nation’s children in Tidore Islands.
Dr. dr. Tri Edhi Budhi Soesilo, M.Si., Head of PPSML UI as well as Acting Director of the UI School of Environmental Sciences welcomed the cooperation that will be established which was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.
Mangrove, Marine, Fisheries and EIA research is a research that is often carried out by PPSML researchers at the School of Environmental Sciences. This of course can make this collaboration beneficial both for Tidore Islands and the development of research at the University of Indonesia.
The Mayor of Tidore Islands, said that after the text of understanding was signed, it would be continued with a Cooperation Manuscript Agreement where in the near future there would be long-distance lectures for S2 and S3 students from Tidore Islands, Maluku.
In September 2021, after the re-inauguration of Capt. Ali Ibrahim as Mayor of Tidore Islands, there will be a tracing of 500 years ago the discovery of Tidore-Ternate which is the meeting point of world civilization.
