The Impact of Forest Conversion into Cocoa Farms on Spider Diversity (Araneae) in Central Sulawesi
Short Description
Central Sulawesi, which is located in the Wallacea region, is known to have a high endemicity of flora and fauna, so it is designated as one of the world’s 25 biodiversity hot spots that are prioritized for conservation (Myers et al. 2000). In general, forests in Central Sulawesi, especially those included in the Lore Lindu National Park (TNLL), are relatively undisturbed, but some areas outside the forest bordering residential areas have undergone changes (TNC/BTNLL 2002).
Conversion of forest to agricultural land in TNLL generally leads to a decrease in flora and fauna diversity, although there are variations in response among taxa groups as reported by various researchers (Schwartz et al. 2002).
as reported by various researchers (Schulze et al. 2004;Shahabuddin 2006, Bos et al. 2007).
